Who says New Year, says new goals and if we transform that into new habits? It already seems easier to achieve and I think 2020 has turned us up enough to put pressure on us for 2021. What if instead of new goals, we create a new positive morning routine. The word “routine” often has a negative connotation and yet I see it as more than a positive word.
For me, a routine is refocusing, reorganizing, being in harmony with yourself. This is the reason why I want to help you create your positive morning routine. Positive because it aims to help you, to direct you to a good day. Here are my tips:
Don’t delay waking up
You probably already do that! “Just 5 minutes” which eventually turn into 15 minutes or more. And in the end, that precious time that you have given to your bed, makes you late. And thus plunges you into a state of stress and this from the morning. That’s why in 2021 I decided to go to bed and get up at the same time (with the obvious exception of an evening with friends for example).
Give yourself some time
Don’t be automatically logged in. I try not to touch my phone within 30 minutes of waking up. Instead, I focus on myself. I drink my cup of tea (or coffee if you prefer). I enjoy a good breakfast, admire the sunrise and go out a few minutes to breathe the fresh air. And if you want to go even further, pick a book and read a few pages each morning. And even better, meditate only 5 minutes to soft and serene music.
A positive morning routine is a good To Do List
Once you’re awake and ready for your day, realize what you have to do. Have you ever felt overwhelmed before you even started the day? So remember, having order is physical as well as mental. Writing, listing but above all prioritizing on your ‘to do list’ will help you see more clearly.
Be grateful!
Say thank you. It doesn’t matter if you believe in the universe or a higher force. Gratitude allows you to focus on the positive and according to the law of attraction, you attract what you think about. At first it may seem complicated, you don’t know how to be grateful or even why. Be grateful for your health, your family, your work, your home, your food, clean and hot water. Your children’s school education or just that traffic light that turned green yesterday and got you there on time. There is always something to be rewarding about, I suggest you write or say 3 positive things about your life.
Tidy up as you go
Leave your house, leaving it clean and tidy. Start by making the bed (scientifically proven to be more beneficial than you might think), emptying the dishwasher, or even changing your bath towels. You’ll only be rewarding when you get back from work. You can prepare the meal having everything at your disposal; take a shower with new, soft bath towels that smell like laundry. And what a joy to have a bed made by opening the bedroom door to go to sleep.
A positive morning routine in short is: going to bed and waking up at a set time. Take time for yourself before activating your phone or even your emails. Organize your day with a schedule / to do list in order of priority. Leave an orderly house so that it will be warm at your returns. And above all express gratitude by focusing on the positive things of your life.
Love,
