Find the cheapest flights ; all my tips!

Planning a trip always starts with buying the flights and that’s often the most expensive thing (at least for long flights). Some of my tips to find the cheapest flights are less known to others. This should save you up to 25% on your flights. When you like to travel like me, the slightest saving is welcome, right?

To start, always use a VPN

As for Instagram, algorithms are developed to record your searches. This explains why you’ll see a flight at € 500 on your first search and this same flight at € 580 after your third search. The goal is to make you understand that prices are going up and it’s better to book your flight right away. So always switch to private browsing so that cookies aren’t loaded.

Check on flight comparators

There are quite a few like Google flight, Kayak, Opodo but the one I use most of the time is Skyscanner. Use the ‘anywhere’ and ‘cheapest month’ search as your travel time. You’ll discover the cheapest destinations and the best time to get there at the best price!

Be Flexible to find the cheapest flights

Whether on the outward or return trip, be flexible and ready to come back a day earlier or on the contrary 3 days later. This happened to me for Koh Samui, the ticket price difference was 120 € and with this budget I could easily stay 3 more days. This allowed me for the same price to enjoy the palm trees and the sea for 3 more days.

Travel Off Season

Logic! The law of supply and demand, the greater the demand, the greater the supply. Except if you have a job with fixed holidays or if you have children, I think you can take days off whenever you want. So be smart and favor the months of May; June; September instead of July and August. You’ll save as much on the flight as on the hotels and there will be especially fewer people. Also remember to look at the calendar as well as the festivities of the country in which you’re going. Traveling to Venice during carnival will not save you anything, especially in accommodation.

Don’t hesitate to make a stopover

Favor flights with stopovers, even if this can be restrictive you’ll sometimes earn more than 100 € for a small stopover of 2 hours. My first trip to Dubai was the stopover for my trip in Koh Samui. We have asked for a longer stopover and some airlines like Emirates don’t ask for a supplement. So whether you stay 2 hours in stopover at the airport or 4 days in stopover in the city of Dubai, your flight will cost you the same. But it allows you to discover other places ‘for free’.

When to find the cheapest flights flight ?

In my personal experience, Tuesday is the best day to find the cheapest flights. But also during the night. You’ll certainly be tired the next day but trust me, it’s worth it. Set an alarm clock at 3 a.m. and check your flights in private navigation again. I always book my flight 5 to 6 months in advance (For example I book Bali before Christmas for a departure in May). Last minutes were very attractive a few years ago but they aren’t at all the case today. I advise you to book your flight at least 8 weeks in advance.

In short, being flexible is without a doubt the best way to find the cheapest flights. I Hope this article has been helpful to you. Don’t hesitate to save it on your Pinterest so as not to lose it. I already wish you a safe journey and good research.
